It’s
been a while such I last posted anything. I was too busy faking it until I made
it (Not that I’ve made it).
The
festive season is fast approaching, and I have found myself questioning: ‘What
the hell I’ve accomplished this year’! and I failed decimally. Couldn’t exactly
pin point what I have accomplished that I could proudly boast about *Shocker*.
Trust me I am not saying this lightly!
I
guess my lack of any real serious accomplishments, is in part due to the
realities of life. Dare I say, life is wonderful and often frustrating, especially
when things don’t work out accordingly.
I
have, however, loudly acknowledged a few things about life that I have always
known but been super oblivious to because, I thought growing up was going to be
a walk in the park. Below are some of the lessons I’ve learnt:
1.
Life
wouldn’t always give you what you want but it can stir you in the direction you
need to be.
2.
Your
faith is tasted to see if your humbleness will endure through trying times and
beyond.
3.
No bad
situation lasts forever regardless of how you may feel in that moment.
4.
You
will outgrow some friends but it doesn’t mean you wish them ill. The true is as
we all get busy hustling and trying to make it, there will be instances when
you might not have time for some friends. In fact, your very ideologies will differ.
When you reach, that point remind yourself it’s nothing personal it’s just called
growing up.
5.
You wouldn’t
always be where you want to be in life. But that doesn’t mean you’re a failure
or that you’ll stay in the same position forever (Unless you choose to). When you
reach, this point remember; this oshiwambo proverb “Onghalamwenyo oya fa
ominewe domunhu.Kape naefiku tu kale tu fike pamwe” basic translation: Life is
like the fingers on our hand, we will never be at the same length. Some of your
friends will be way ahead off you, but that shouldn’t be course for jealousy,
if anything view this as inspiration; should your own be lacking.
6.
You wouldn’t
talk to your friends every day, however, if they were ever true friends the
times you do meet will out weight, the absence of constant communication. It’s
called growing up. Everyone is busy trying to build their empire, family and
whatever else under the sun. Don’t hold that against them for not making time
for you. At this stage in our lives, people pleasing needs to be a big no, no.
Finally,
stop; just stop comparing yourselves to others. We all didn’t make the same
choices in life, but we made choices nonetheless. Those very same choices put us
in the situations in which we find ourselves today so let’s not hate but rather
appreciate.
May
the forces of 2017 be with you.
